Travel (2016)

Coming from my research and fascination with the contradiction of notions of memory and the present, lifeless and living, Travel, takes the mixture of puppet animation and video archiving techniques and seeks to represent the memory reconstruction process. When we consider definitions of memory, we face the important notion of reconstructing the past. It may be said that memory can be rebuilt by various objects and in diverse spaces, it is also represented in cultural products like images, videos, and sculptures.

The bear puppet, which was made by myself, walks through his recollections through videos he projects into the wall at the opening of the film. “Now” is indicated by the puppet that its materiality evokes the viewer’s haptic memory, that is, it can be touched, while the past and the memories are embodied by videos that are not touchable. The film has no linear narrative and it’s mostly a chain of events.
