Depths (2021) Live Animation Performance

The performance is a visual storytelling method that blurs the line between animation, puppetry, and visual art and seeks to create fantasy and dreamlike spaces through limited de-familiarization and the use of collage. The narrator/camera moves between spaces and walls and the venue is a 12-meter room where the equipment is arranged on different levels and it looks like an installation. Dolls and scenes are from collages of Renaissance paintings and toy theatre drawings that were common in 19th century England and old drawings of paper toys. The mobility of any doll is limited and repetitive, such as spinning around or shaking legs, or just hands.
